Tech Week - Director's Notes #2

TUESDAY REHEARSAL 11/6

OVERALL CAST NOTES:
  • Better listening last night and less chatter backstage!
  • Be in Chapel ready for notes/warmups at 6 PM tonight.
  • Bring homework, knitting...whatever will keep you occupied in the green room!
  • Don't touch props. Ever.
  • Stay in green rooms - stay out of hallway in basement. This is why:
    • There are classes/other college things happening down there. Be respectful of the space.
    • We are visitors in the building.
    • Tomorrow night - there will be audience members using the restrooms, etc. They should not see you unless you are on stage!
  • If anyone's mic pops or if there's a mistake in music cue, BE COOL ABOUT IT. No one in the audience should know it happened. Be professional. Always.
  • Only song with no backstage singing is Here on Who. I'll explain why tonight.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
  • Cat - We'll work out Grinch scene tonight.
  • Cat/Jojo - Better on opening "hat wearing cat"
  • Hunches/Cat - Hunch scene looked SO MUCH BETTER last night!!!
  • It's Possible - This looked good last night, but need more volume in song. There CAN be singing in wings on this one.
  • Things - Can you strike the bathtub? Jojo looks odd standing there and we can't rely on a blackout.
  • Wickershams - Great job with be aware of Things moving props last night.
  • Mayzie - Palm Beach...just "layout" on the stage with Cat fanning you.
  • Sour Kangaroo - YAAASSS! Great job last night.
  • Jungle - Was there a late entrance with Horton Hears a Who? Let's talk about that. Unless you enter from SL, the rest of you should be ready to go immediately after the opening.
  • Sour Kangaroo/Young Kangaroo - Can you guys get closer to Jungle during opening. When we hear "Just think...from the Planet of Who" you guys are really close to Whos.
  • Monkey Around - Tanner, work on your timing. Nice job working around missing parts, guys.
  • Donovan - Can you wrap those wings around you? Grab them with your hands instead of letting them fly behind you.
  • Schmitz/Cadets - GREAT JOB last night! Let's cut out the marching in place earlier. I know I said march until "Any questions." Stop after "I do not like green eggs and ham!" Also, stop marching after you've arrived to deliver the news to Whos about Jojo.
  • Things - Talk to Tony about where the NEST is supposed to be on stage to clear the lights. Also, be super careful moving it in and out of curtains.
  • Mrs. Mayor - Stay on platforms and watch your placement on stage. You kept drifting too far downstage and into center when Horton or Jungle were on. Stay in your universe.
  • Yertle - Your step stool should be on the Judge's stand platform. You'll need to sit it down and step up. Tony will show you where to push the platform - further downstage.
  • Jungle - We will try a difference way to enter tonight for People v Horton. It was still really messy last night and awkward!
  • Gertrude - Use your head voice when possible and depend on your mic. Don't blow out your voice! It must last 5 more nights!
  • Horton - If you lose a line, don't let us know about it. Keep it rolling. Don't break character. Watch your starting pitch in Circus on Tour/How Lucky. It'll be better with monitors tonight.
  • Bird Girls - Better with choreo! I need more facial expressions, though. Great job Kenzie...you're always on. Rachel - cross your legs when sitting. :)
  • Solla Sollew - really nice moment
